Heavily influenced by two specific texts, The Poetics of Space by Gaston Bachelard and The Allegorical Impulse by Craig Owens, this series set the parameters that would come to define my interests moving forward, namely painterly/pictorial space and the relationship between paint and collage. Borrowing concepts freely from both texts, these paintings were to exist as painting-objects and also spaces to inhabit. (2008-09)
